LEARN MOREABOUT FREEDIVING NEW ZEALAND

Freediving New Zealand works to support and grow the sport of freediving in New Zealand

Freediving New Zealand is an incorporated society that was established in 2006 (originally AIDA NZ Inc) to support athletes who participate in freediving competitions in New Zealand and internationally.  The organisation helps to promote the sport of freediving at the club level and provides guidance on safety. In order to maintain consistency and benchmark against international standards, Freediving New Zealand follows the rules of AIDA International and uses internationally qualified judges for competitions. This allows for our competitors to receive world rankings.

In addition to their other responsibilities, the board of Freediving New Zealand also works with AIDA International and other organizations such as NZUA to represent freedivers in discussions related to freediving and apnea safety.  They also assist in selecting athletes to represent New Zealand for world championships, provide judges for club competitions, and host an annual national freediving competition.
