AIDA FREEDIVING NEW ZEALAND POOL NATIONALS 2025

19- 21 September 2025

The Lazy Seals Freediving Club is proud to host the AIDA Freediving New Zealand Pool Nationals 2025 at the Te ngaengae Pool, Wellington

The competition will comprise three sessions over three days:
Friday 19 September: Statics (STA), Athletes briefing in the morning
Saturday 20 September: Morning Dynamic with Fin (DYN/DYNB) in the 50m main pool
Sunday 21 September: Morning will be Dynamic No Fins (DNF) in the 25m main pool
The competition is AIDA-ranked, but it does NOT have world record status.

COMP DETAILS

The Pool

The entire competition will be in Lower Hutt, Wellington, at at 12 Everest Avenue, Naenae, Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

The new, bigger facility was reopened in December 2024 and boasts a 50m Olympic pool with two moveable bulkheads, and most importantly a second leisure pool with “zoom tubes”.

The depth of the main pool is adjustable, more details to follow.

Accommodation

There is a number of motels and lodges in local area, along with some good Airbnb options.

We do have some limited billets available, if you are keen to get a space please indicate on the registration form you will receive after purchasing your competition ticket.

AIDA Competition Grade

AIDA Competition Grade registration consists of:

1 – Payment of fees via ticket purchase from Lazy Seals Hello Club event page.

2 – Completion of online registration form, sent via ticket purchase confirmation email.

3 – Scanned pdf copy of passport. Email to alanjpyatt@gmail.com by 12 September 2025.

4 – Scanned .pdf copy of Medical Certificate of Non-contradiction to freediving signed and stamped by a physician, no older than 1 year at the conclusion of the competition. Email to alanjpyatt@gmail.com by 12 September 2025.

Recreational Grade

Recreation grade is for those new to competitive freediving. Divers in the ‘rec grade’ will compete in the same disciplines, but with relaxed rules and against other recreation grade divers. These dives will not be eligible for international ranking, but will appear on the Freediving New Zealand Recreational Grade Ranking on the Freediving New Zealand website.

You cannot have entered recreation grade in a pool competition before to compete in this grade.

Rec Grade registration consists of:

1 – Payment of fees via ticket purchase from the Lazy Seals hello Club event page.

2 – Completion of online registration form, sent via ticket purchase confirmation.

3 – Scanned copy of Medical Statement (using AIDA Int Medical form). If you answer yes to anything in the Medical Statement, then you must have it signed and stamped by a physician as Medical Certificate of Non-contradiction to freediving no older than 1 year at the conclusion of the competition. Email scanned .pdf form to alanjpyatt@gmail.com by 12 September 2025.

Entries

Entries will be limited to 40 divers, so be sure to register early! A competition T-shirt is included in the Early Bird Entry!

Entries close on 8th September 2024. To enter, you have to be 16 years old or older.

AIDA Grade for FNZ Club Members is for members of these New Zealand Freediving Clubs: Auckland Freediving Club, Breathtakers, Christchurch Freediving Club, Waikato Freediving Club, Lazy Seal Freediving Club, or Queenstown Freediving Club.

AIDA Grade for Non-FNZ Club Members is for all other AIDA competitors. Must be a member of another AIDA National.

AIDA Int. Medical form: AIDA Medical Statement 2019 V2.1

Deadlines

All entry fees are being handled by the Lazy Seals Hello Club event system via ticket purchases.

Early Bird Pricing from 3rd June 2025 to 31st July 2025 23:59 pm NZST.

Standard Pricing from 1st August 2025 to 8th September 2025.

Cancellation Policy

Should there be any reason which means the event cannot run in Wellington a full refund of ticket (Entry) purchase cost will be made.

If you need to cancel:

A – Before 18th August 2025 full refund of ticket purchase

B – After 18th August 2025 and before 31st August 2024 will incur a $40 administration fee

C – After 1st September 2025 no refund available for cancellation
